As a part of a major upgrade of the refinery, there was a need for a brand-new amine storage tank. According to the specification APCS-27, only two products from different manufacturers could be applied.

Firstly, the Durapol UHT is a spray-applied product in comparison to brush-applied material of the competitor.
Taking into account the large volume of the tank, which is 669m3, only spray-applied products could guarantee the best quality of the final result.
Secondly, Durapol UHT had a higher service temperature, which created an additional safety margin that was very important for the customer.
Finally, the Durapol UHT coating was about half of the price of our competitor. Taking into account the very significant difference in price and relatively large area of the lining, the customer saved more than £50,000 on the material.
After being in service for three years, in September 2008, the inspection found the tank in excellent condition. “No break-in coating was noticed with the holiday tester” stated in the report.

After six years in service there no changes in coating. The coating was in perfect condition.
